COVIDESIGN: AIR SHADE

There is an imperative need to protect the medical team, for their own sake as well for the patients who need their care.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for the medical team in the corona aisles which will increase significantly the protection without impeding and maybe improve function of the medical team taking care of SARS-Cov2 positive patients. In addition, there is a need to find a way to overcome the steam that forms on the visor and to solve the problem of Co2 when breathing with a mask. The better protection as well as the better function while wearing this PPE will help medical teams to perform their tasks during overload of the medical system.

At this project, I took a part of the R&D team that works on the optimization of the manufacturing process. We had a limited time to manufacture this system and mass manufacturing with injection molding would take a long time of development as the inner part has a complex structure. Additive Manufacturing(AM) seems to be the best solution, yet there is many optional AM that can manufacture this product. We tested FDM, FGF and HP Multijet.
